Authorization (1969) was one of many of Michael’s Snow’s works that remained with me in my personal Museum Without Walls (Musée Imaginaires). I first experienced his work at the newly opened Confederation Centre Art Gallery then later at the National Gallery of Canada. He was part of that generation of Canadian artists whose work was more informed by contemporary theory than academic departments in Canadian universities in the 1960s and 1970s. It never disappoints. Snow’s Authorization complements M. C. Escher’s etchings that reference mirrored worlds and Davidhazy’s digital image technologies that also develops the mirror metaphor. Here I have just roughly begun another digitage on frames within frames, thumbnails of thumbnails. These are combined images of my organically emerging Web 2.0 identity through thumbnails of my Web 2.0 blogs that I have been wanting to work on for awhile now.
